The Sandpiper | Book Now

The Sandpiper is a five-star resort and one of the most highly awarded in Barbados for good reasons. Located by the calm waters of the west coast, the surrounding area of Saint James is referred to as the “Platinum Coast” due to its high popularity with the rich and famous. Here you can find some of the best luxury shopping and fine-dining restaurants on the island.

The Sandpiper has its own fabulous restaurant and bar, serving up European and Asian-inspired fusion food with a Caribbean flair. The rooms are airy with sophisticated tropical décor, all with private outdoor areas. Why not splash out on the sought-after Tree Top suite, where you can relax in your own personal plunge pool overlooking the ocean?

Fairmont Royal Pavilion | Book Now

Another five-star option in Saint James is the recently renovated Fairmont Royal Pavilion. You don’t have to worry about which way your room will face here – all of the 72 rooms are directly on the beachfront.

The bright, tropical-inspired rooms reflect the crystal-clear waters in soothing shades of whites and blues. Here you can order an in-room massage or room service from one of the two delicious on-site restaurants. A bunch of activities can be arranged just for you such as diving, fishing, snorkeling, canoeing, and tennis… you might struggle to fit in all the fun!

The Crane Resort | Book Now

The Crane Resort Barbados is located on the rugged southern coast in the St. Philip Parish. Perched high on the cliffs with incredible ocean views, The Crane Resort has a long history of delighting guests from around the world.

Lounge in the sun on the secluded pink-sand Crane Beach, take a dip in one of the luxurious pools and jacuzzis, dine in style at one of the delicious on-site restaurants, or simply relax and take in the view — at The Crane, you can do it all! You can even book a room with a private plunge pool overlooking the ocean for an extra special getaway! Read more about The Crane Barbados Resort in this post!

Wyndham Grand Barbados Sam Lords Castle | Book Now

The Wyndham Grand Barbados is a new resort in Barbados — in fact, it was still under construction the first time I visited the island! But I’ve been to this location a few times because it’s the site of the famous Sam Lords Castle ruin. Now, right next door to the historic pirate castle is the Wyndham Grand Barbados, located in St. Philip on the south coast of the island, and just a short walk from Long Beach.

Now, the Wyndham Grand Barbados all-inclusive resort is located at this lookout point with panorama sea views. There’s an ocean-view swimming pool, tennis courts, a kids club, and a spa all on site, as well as several tasty restaurants and bars. This location is a bit off the beaten path so you’ll probably want a rental car for exploring, but it’s a good option for peace and quiet.

O2 Beach Club and Spa | Book Now

O2 Beach Club and Spa is an all-inclusive resort by Ocean Hotels located near Dover Beach and St. Lawrence Gap. Because the resort has different room types, this is the perfect place for a romantic getaway or family vacation. Choose from adults-only rooms with access to a kid-free pool area, or stay as a group in a one-bedroom or two-bedroom suite with space for everyone.

O2 Beach Club has a beautiful sun terrace, two swim-up bars, three pools, and five restaurants. Plus, water activities like snorkeling, kayaking, and boogie boarding are included. It’s no wonder this is one of the top resorts on the south coast of Barbados.

St. Peters Bay Resort | Book Now

If you’re looking for a larger, private option by the ocean, St. Peter’s Bay Resort has exquisite villas on the northwest shores of the island. With several bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and large dining and lounge areas, you can easily set up shop with family or friends and enjoy cooking meals together on the deck.

That’s not to say you won’t have access to amenities like the big hotels, though – there’s still a beautiful long lagoon pool surrounded by gardens and sun loungers, a fitness center, and on-site activities. Make sure to try snorkeling at the back beach, it’s a fantastic spot for it!

Sugar Bay Barbados Resort | Book Now

Located just south of Bridgetown near some of the best beaches on the island, Sugar Bay Barbados is an all-inclusive Barbados resort option that is perfect for the whole family!

When you stay at Sugar Bay Barbados, you get unlimited access to a pristine stretch of beach, non-motorized water sports like kayaks and paddleboards, and several tasty restaurants and bars. There’s a swim-up bar for the adults and a kids club for the little ones, as well as a variety of spacious rooms and suites.

Coral Reef Club | Book Now

Surround yourself with 12 acres of flowering tropical gardens at The Coral Reef Club, a serene Saint James resort. Frangipanis, crotons, and bougainvillea adorn the property, hanging elegantly over wooden balcony rails and shutters.

Plantation Suites and Luxury Cottage Suites have their own private plunge pool, or you can jump into the huge shared outdoor pool or stroll into the front beach. A playground keeps the kids amused while you relax at the spa, or you can all get involved in the nearby cycling, windsurfing, or snorkeling options on offer.

On the white shores of the southern coast’s Maxwell Beach is one of the best resorts in Barbados. Bougainvillea Barbados has three pools to float in – and what better way is there to order a tropical cocktail than from the swim-up bar?

This family-friendly resort offers free activities in their kid’s club and games room, as well as a fitness center, tennis court, outdoor movies, limbo dancing, and DJ nights. All rooms have a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, but don’t let this stop you from indulging in the Oistin’s Friday night Fish Fry just down the road. Learn more about Bougainvillea Barbados in this post.

Cobblers Cove | Book Now

Cobblers Cove has been listed by Home & Gardens as one of the top 20 most beautiful hotels in the world. It’s also been voted the best hotel in Barbados by the World Travel Awards for the 3rd time. Still not convinced? How about the fact that guests can swim with turtles for free, and go water skiing or paddle boarding for free?

There are a lot of perks to this boutique luxury hideaway on the Upper East Coast, with 44 individually decorated suites set amongst lush gardens. If you want some quiet time away from the kids, come for the adult-only period between January and March for extra rest and relaxation.

The Palms Resort | Book Now

The Palms Resort is in Holetown on the west coast and it’s just a short walk from Sandy Lane Beach. This was one of our favorite beaches for swimming and surfing (when the waves are good!), and Holetown has great restaurants and nightlife if you’re staying on the west coast.

You can choose from one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and a penthouse suite. The hotel has a pool, and each room has a pool view and a patio. This is a good option if you want a kitchen or just need a little more space than a standard hotel room. Previous guest reviews say they love the quieter location off the main road, but still were able to get to attractions and beaches in about 10- 15 minutes walking.

Sandals Barbados | Book Now

Sandals Barbados is one of the best adults-only resorts on the island, so you know it’s a romantic one. It boasts the largest river-style pool in the Caribbean, thirteen restaurants, and seven bars – one of which has swim-up access, of course. Even some of the rooms have swim-up access; you can walk right into the pool from your patio!

Sandals all-inclusive package also includes water sports, entertainment, and scuba diving in the Caribbean Sea. If you’re feeling sociable, the exciting nightlife of St. Lawrence Gap is only a short walk away. Sandals Barbados offers an all-inclusive resort experience with high-end amenities you won’t want to miss!

Sandals Royal Barbados | Book Now

Sandals Royal Barbados is the sister property to Sandals Barbados and it features a rooftop pool and bar, and a four-lane bowling alley called “Lovers Lanes.” Sandals Royal Barbados is also an adults-only all-inclusive designed for couples, and you can even book rooms with private pools and butler service.

One perk of staying with Sandals or Sandals Royal is that you get access to the restaurants, pools, and resort amenities at both properties throughout your stay — great for anyone who wants even more options.

The Club Barbados | Book Now

The Club Barbados is an all-inclusive resort in Saint James that has everything you need in one spot – a quiet beach, three pools, a sauna, a fitness center, a spa, a range of food and drinks provided, water sports, entertainment, and a bar. You may struggle to find a reason to leave!

If you want to go exploring, the historic village and shopping plaza of Holetown is only 1km away. The tour desk can hook you up with off-property excursions like sea safaris, turtle feeding, cocktail cruises, and submarine tours. You must be 16 years or older to stay at The Club, making it the perfect option for a romantic couple’s hideaway.

The Hilton Barbados Resort has access to one of the most spacious beaches on the island, and a huge, two-level pool overlooking it. The lounge chairs here have a “flag up” bar service, so you don’t even have to get up to get a drink if you don’t feel like it!

Book a room with an ocean-view balcony to wake up with the sun and if you want to mix things up, you can explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site within the grounds – the 17th-century ruins of Charles Fort. You can learn a bit of history at this British military site, originally built to protect Carlisle Bay from enemy attacks. The friendly staff will be happy to direct you there and help out with anything you need for an awesome stay.

Beach View Hotel | Book Now

Beach View Hotel is on the west coast of Barbados and it’s situated next to Payne’s Bay Beach. There’s a cafe, gym, and spa onsite, and there are four swimming pools with special areas for adults and kids.

You can book a hotel room or choose one of the larger suites or villas (which come with kitchens), depending on the size of your group. Plus, there are beach chairs, umbrellas, and coolers available to rent at the front desk so you have everything you need for a beautiful day at the beach.

Sandy Lane | Book Now

Last but certainly not least, be prepared to be blown away by this extravagant, top-notch resort. Said to be one of the most luxurious hotels in the world, Sandy Lane really goes above and beyond with its outstanding service and distinctive touches. Don’t be surprised to see celebrities here – this place attracts the see-and-be-seen kind of crowd.

There’s a 47,000-square-foot spa, waterfalls flowing into garden-rimmed pools, three golf courses, nine tennis courts, and four restaurants. It’s pricey but undoubtedly deserves to be the grand finale on our list of best resorts in Barbados.
