Bajan cuisine has a heavy influence from Indian food traditions, and dishes like roti (a wrap filled with curried meats and vegetables) are staples in the Bajan diet. Located right outside of Oistins, De Roti Shop is home to some of the best roti on the island.

De Roti Shop specializes in Trinidadian and Guyanese style curry and all ingredients are homemade with care. Fill your roti with your choice of protein, potatoes, and vegetables, then enjoy your wrap at the family-style table outside. Meals at De Roti Shop can be made vegetarian friendly too.

De Roti Shop is mainly a lunch spot, so make sure to arrive early because the food is so tasty it often runs out fast.

Casper’s Beachside Restaurant

Located seaside on one of the most beautiful beaches in Barbados, you’ll find Casper’s. Casper’s Beachside Restaurant is the perfect place to unwind with friends and they serve tasty dishes like burgers, grilled fish, BBQ chicken, and wings.

The staff is so friendly they’ll make you feel right at home, and you can enjoy a view of Miami Beach while you sip a cold beer on their breezy patio. Stop by Wednesday through Saturday for lunch and good vibes.

The Oistins Fish Fry isn’t exactly a restaurant. It’s more of a food and cultural event. Located next to the Oistins fish market, the Fish Fy is a collection of food stalls serving up their own creations with fresh catches and local favorites.

While you can visit any of these stalls throughout the week, Friday night is when the area really comes to life. Locals and tourists alike flock to the Oistins to grab food from the various stalls and lime (which is the Bajan word for hanging out) while drinking local rum and beer with live music.

In addition to having some of the best restaurants in Oistins, the Fish Fry is definitely one of the best things to do while on the island. There’s a great atmosphere and it’s family-friendly as well.

Pro tip: If you’re traveling with a group, you might want to go early for food since the tables fill up fast!

Here’s a look at what you can expect:

Parking can be tight directly around the Fish Market but many people choose to take the ZR vans (line 11 runs right outside) or park the Oistins Massy parking lot. For those staying at a hotel, some offer transportation to their guests on Friday night.

Unsure which food stall to try when you visit? We recommend:

Chillin’ and Grillin’

Chillin’ and Grillin’ is an island-style bar and grill in the heart of the Oistins Fish Fry. They offer a selection of fish and meats with a range of delicious sides. They are known for their rum punch and you definitely need to try their macaroni pie!

Uncle George’s Fish Net

Uncle George’s Fish Net is another one of our favorite stalls in the Oistins Fish Fry. They specialize in seafood dishes and I’ve had some of the best tuna of my life there, thanks to Uncle George.
