When you visit Barbados, you’ll quickly learn that the island is filled to the brim with delectable eateries! Let’s take a look at some of the top restaurants in Barbados. Fair warning, you’ll probably finish this post feeling very hungry!

I’ve broken this post up into some different categories of restaurants:

Pricing is relative of course (those dollar signs can shift a ton depending on what you get), but you can use this as a general guide for what kind of meal you’re looking to have.

Best restaurants for dinners and special occasions

Castaways

• St. Lawrence Gap, South Coast
• Elegant, elevated classics in a spectacular setting

With excellent food, impeccable service, and a world-class location, Castaways is a must for a special night out in Barbados.

It’s located in St. Lawrence Gap and guests will enjoy beautiful views of the bay and a wide variety of cuisines that delight locals and travelers alike. Their menu is inspired by flavors of the Caribbean and they also have vegetarian and vegan offerings that will make your mouth water.

Castaways is open all week from 5:00pm until 11:00pm with happy hour running from 5:00pm until 6:00pm. They allow walk-ins, but if you’re visiting during high season you should make a reservation to ensure you get a table.

Better yet, book your dinner at Castaways along with a show at the Barbados Magic Lounge, which is located in the same building. When you reserve your show ticket, you’ll also have the option to book dinner before or after.

On our last visit, we went to see the Memorabilia Magic Show by Hans Grane (10/10 amazing!) and then stayed for dinner at Castaways (also 10/10 amazing!). We had several different cocktails from the bar and the bartender was a genius, customizing our drinks based on what we liked and telling us all about the island.

We sat at a stunning table on the upstairs terrace where we could see the twinkling lights of St. Lawrence Gap and blissful boats floating in the bay. We tried two starters, the cornbread skillet and the garlic hummus, and both were above and beyond. For mains, I got the Thai Green Curry (flavorful, spicy, delightful) and my partner got the Prime Angus Ribeye. For dessert, we shared the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. My taste buds haven’t been that happy in a long time!

Champers Restaurant

Located on the South Coast of Barbados in Worthing, this trendy restaurant is known for its breathtaking seaside views and excellent service.

Champers serves a wide variety of food influenced by Cajun, American, Asian and Caribbean cuisine, with different menus for lunch and dinner. So, if you’re craving a mix of all the famous cuisines in the world while in Barbados, Champers is the place to go. 

The staff at Champers are known for their friendly service. They are open for lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, Champers only offers dinner services from 6 PM to 10 PM.

However, it is essential to remember that it is a good idea to book in advance if you want a seaside table outdoors. The view by the seaside is gorgeous, but if you wish for an air-conditioned area, Champers also provides that on the upper floor. 

All in all, for a combination of fantastic food, excellent service, and the most picturesque view in all of Barbados, pay a visit to Champers!

La Cabane

La Cabane has a unique setting when it comes to its dining space. With its open kitchen and beach bar on the West Coast, this restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Barbados. At La Cabane, you can choose from a menu of grilled foods and fresh seasonal creations. There’s also a bar that offers the best tropical cocktails around!

Their portions are generous, you have unrestricted access to the beach, and the live music is unforgettable. So if you want to dip your toes in the sand, enjoy the sunshine, and indulge in a delicious meal, La Cabane is the place for you.

La Cabane is closed on Mondays, but for the rest of the week, it’s open for lunch and dinner. It’s also open for breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. If you’re visiting during peak season, it’s best to make a reservation in advance to make sure you get a table.

The View Kitchen and Bar

We found this spot by accident while looking for a place to eat in Holetown, and it turned out to be such a memorable experience. The View is a smaller restaurant tucked away right by the water, but one side is fully open to the sea so it feels like you’re eating out over the ocean. They’re open for lunch, and dinner, as well as brunch on Sunday and they offer a set menu for each meal that comes with either two or three dishes. We did the dinner set menu which came to about $60 USD per person for a starter, main, and dessert, all with an amazing west coast sea view.

Cafe Luna

If you’re celebrating a special occasion on the South Coast of Barbados, head to Cafe Luna! Cafe Luna is located near Enterprise Miami Beach on the rooftop of the Little Arches Hotel.

At Cafe Luna, guests can enjoy sweeping views of the sea from a charming rooftop patio that looks like it came straight out of a storybook. With twinkle lights overhead and lush plants all around, Cafe Luna is the perfect place to watch the sunset and enjoy incredible Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Italian cuisine.

The Tides Restaurant

The Tides Restaurant is located in Holetown, St. James, on the scenic west coast of Barbados. Considered to be the hallmark of dining in Barbados, their specialty is seafood and fresh, seasonal dishes. Their lobsters and oysters dishes are considered by many to be some of the best in the world.

However, there are also beef and mutton options for the diners not wanting to have seafood. Their dessert menu also boasts a wide variety of delectable desserts that both adults and kids love.

It is open for lunch from Sunday to Friday and for dinner on all the days of the week. Typical lunch timings are 12 PM to 3 PM whereas dinner timings are from 6 PM to 11 PM. However, you should make your reservations beforehand as this is quite a busy dining spot.

If you’re looking for a place to take the most aesthetically pleasing pictures for your Instagram, this is the place for you. Its blue and sand-colored decor will add a nice twist to all your photos. You can also check out their tasteful art gallery filled with pieces from some of the world’s best artists.

The Cliff Restaurant

The Cliff Restaurant is named so because it is built on a cliff overlooking the West Coast. The Cliff is a famous tourist and celebrity hotspot known for its panoramic view of the sea and delicious food by Michelin Star Chef Matt Worswick. 

This restaurant is an upscale spot perfect for celebrating a special occasion and they’re open from 5:00pm until late in the evening. You can also have lunch on Sundays starting at noon. The dress code is elegantly casual, so it’s a great chance to dress up for a fancy night out. With a beautiful Caribbean ambiance and excellent food, it’s no wonder this restaurant has won many awards.

Lobster Alive

Located on the beautiful Carlisle Bay in Bridgetown, Lobster Alive is the place to go if you wish to have the freshest lobster in all of Barbados. They opened in 1995 and are known for fresh seafood as well as live jazz music all in a great beachfront setting on Carlisle Bay.

Generally, lunches at Lobster Alive are more laidback with less of a crowd. This atmosphere can help you enjoy the sights of Carlisle Bay long after your lunch is finished, courtesy of the deck chairs provided. Lobster Alive is also known for being a hub for live jazz music on the island. Current schedule is Sunday from 12:00pm – 4:00pm and all other days from 12:00pm – 9:00pm.

Nishi Restaurant

Nishi Restaurant adds a fresh twist to dining in Barbados with its fusion of different Asian cuisines. Many visitors consider their sushi to be some of the best that they’ve ever had! Nishi has three separate dining areas. You can choose between a laidback outdoor seating space, a lively sushi bar where you can also see the chefs at work, and or a stunning air-conditioned indoor dining space.

They’re open every day except Tuesday from 5:00pm – 10:00pm, and make sure to make a reservation beforehand as their tables are usually all booked in advance!

Best lunch spots and mid-range restaurants

Surfer’s Cafe

• Oistins, South Coast
• Exceptional sea views, one of the best brunch and breakfast spots in Barbados
• Visit their website

Looking for a relaxed brunch restaurant in Oistins? Surfer’s Cafe is the place to be! With delicious breakfast, brunch, and lunch options, fruity smoothies, fancy coffees, and amazing sea views, Surfer’s Cafe is always one of our first stops when we arrive in Barbados. (On my 2026 visit, this was the first stop on the first morning!) There are a few tables that actually jut out over the ocean so you can have breakfast surrounded by the blue waves of the south coast.

Surfer’s Cafe is open daily from around 7:00 am until about 7:30 pm with breakfast service running until around 11:00 am. Stop by for the food and stay for the fun atmosphere and sea views.

Pier One Restaurant

• Speightstown, West Coast
• Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with beach access, pool, and swimup bar

If you want to make a day of it, Pier One is one of my top recommendations for great food and a great day on the water. This restaurant has oceanfront dining as well as a deck floating out over the water and a swim platform, and there’s a swimming pool with a swim up bar. Coming for breakfast or lunch gives you access to the full facility so you can eat and spend the day swimming, snorkeling, or just soaking up the sun in Speightstown.

The food is great too! Our group had a veggie burger, catch of the day, and regular burger and everyone was thrilled with their food. They also do seasonal set menus where you can do a starter, main, and a dessert for a fixed price, which tends to be a good value for the money. After eating, we went for a swim and just hung out around the pool for a while, and Pier one has changing rooms and showers too. Definitely worth spending the day!

Sea Shed

• Mullins, West Coast
• Great food and drinks with beach access

Like Pier One, Sea Shed is another great spot to spend the day with good food, good drinks, and easy access to the beach. We went in the afternoon for drinks and light snacks, but they’re open from 11:00am – 9:00pm most days. Sea Shed has lots of outdoor seating up on the sun deck as well as loungers down on the water. You can go for a swim, order a snack, and spend the day enjoying the treehouse-style facilities. Located on the West Coast near Mullins. (The rum punch here is crazy good!)

Animal Flower Cave Restaurant

• St. Lucy, North Coast
• Bajan cuisine with a spectacular view of the north coast

If you’re planning to visit the popular tourist attraction, Animal Flower Cave, make sure to stick around for lunch at the Animal Flower Cave Restaurant! This tasty restaurant is located on the cliffs at the northernmost point of the island and they serve fresh, vibrant, Bajan favorites.

The Animal Flower Cave restaurant is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11:30 am until 5:00 pm. This outdoor eatery offers incredible views of the cliffs surrounding Animal Flower Cave and the rugged northern coast of Barbados. (Make sure to try the breadfruit tacos!)

We stopped by this restaurant after a busy morning touring St. Nicholas Abbey and Animal Flower Cave. The panoramic views and delicious meals definitely hit the spot.

Round House Restaurant

• Bathsheba, East Coast

Round House stands out from the other oceanside restaurants dotting the Barbados coast because of its history. Built 150 years ago, Round House is a restaurant, inn, and event space with yoga and live music.

Its located on a hilltop close to Soup Bowl (a popular Barbados surfing spot) and this is one of my go-to spots to grab a drink and watch the surfers when exploring the East Coast. Round House is open Thursday – Sunday for lunch, and Sunday early for brunch. They have seafood, salads, and bigger sharing boards if you’re coming with a group.

Cutters of Barbados

• St. Philip, South Coast
• Casual diner and deli serving cutters and incredible rum punch (in my opinion, it’s the best rum punch on the island of Barbados!)

When visiting Barbados, you must try a local Bajan favorite, the cutter sandwich. And if you want to try one of the best cutters on the island, look no further than Cutters of Barbados.

Located near the Crane Hotel and Crane Beach in the St. Philip parish, Cutters of Barbados is a Bajan deli owned by an American couple. With their hospitable staff, easy-going atmosphere, and award-winning rum punch, you will indeed feel like you’ve had the best meal of your life. 

This place specializes in cutters, a special Barbados sandwich made with Bajan salt bread and a protein like flying fish, chicken, or pork. Cutters is open from 9 AM from Mondays to Fridays. On Saturdays and Sundays, it is open from 9 AM to 8 PM. Since it is an informal deli, you usually don’t need to make reservations to get a table here.

Throw live music into the mix, and you have the recipe for the perfect evening at one of the best Barbados restaurants.

Cafe Sol

• St. Lawrence Gap, South Coast

If you’re looking for Mexican food in Barbados, Cafe Sol is a great option with a sea view, great food, and a bar that specializes in margaritas. 

Cafe Sol is closed on Mondays. The rest of the week is open from 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM on weekdays and 9:15 PM on Sundays. 

With its laidback style and a menu filled with mouth-watering Mexican food, it is the place to go to in St. Lawrence Gap if you’re in the mood for a relaxed, easy-going time. The great thing is that you don’t even need to make reservations to have lunch or dinner here.

Marco Polo Bar and Grill

• St. Philip, South Coast
• Bar and pub food, pasta, pizza, and burgers
• Visit their website

The Marco Polo Bar and Grill in St. Philip, Barbados serves feel-good food for all palates. Their signature dishes include delicious burgers, pizzas, pasta, and more in a lively outdoor atmosphere. They also have a healthy rum and beer selection, making this the perfect place for a casual, cozy celebration or group gathering. If you’re staying at The Crane Resort, you should definitely visit Marco Polo for a meal or two. Currently, they are open from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday each week.

Best casual restaurants (more budget-friendly)

Oistins Fish Fry

• Oistins, South Coast
• Casual collection of food stalls and grills selling seafood with outdoor seating
• The Friday night fish fry is the most popular

Unlike the other options on this list, the Oistins Fish Fry isn’t a single restaurant. Oistins is a fishing village on the south coast and the fish fry is an outdoor extravaganza where several vendors set up stalls selling fried fish, seafood, and local classics like breadfruit and macaroni pie.

There’s a giant seating area and lots of different food stalls to try (our favorites are De Red Snapper, Uncle George’s Fish Net, and Chillin & Grillin), and you get huge portions of fresh food for a really reasonable price. Most stalls have the same offer – you pick your protein (different types of fish or chicken) with two sides and three salads. For vegetarians, some stalls will let you do a few sides and salads to make a plate. Plates range from $30 – $45 BBD, so about $15 – $22.5 USD and the portions are big so definitely one of the best values for your money.

The Oistins Fish Fry is open every evening from around 5:00 pm, weather permitting. Friday is the biggest night when most stalls are open and there’s live music, shops, and other things to see, but it can be pretty chaotic. It’s worth going to see, but you’ll have longer lines and more risk of stalls running out of the food you want, so we always go on a different night when we want to eat dinner there.

Worthing Food Court

• Worthing, South Coast (behind the Sol gas station, next to the Worthing Massey)

This one isn’t so much a restaurant as a collection of restaurants, but it’s a great spot for grabbing a meal with outdoor seating, live music, and lots of different food options at different price points. There’s pizza, tacos, jerk, burgers, even steak sandwiches, as well as sweets like bubble tea and ice cream. There’s also a bar truck and screens for showing sporting events, all tucked among the trees and twinkle lights.

De Roti Shop

• Oistins, South Coast

If you’re looking for classic Bajan cuisine in a cozy, home-style atmosphere, look no further than De Roti Shop! De Roti Shop is the perfect place to grab a budget-friendly lunch on the go. Choose from meat and vegetable fillings and toppings served warm in a flavorful roti wrap.

There is limited outdoor seating, but most people take their Roti for the road. Make sure to stop by early in the afternoon because fillings can run out quickly. De Roti Shop is open for lunch but hours vary depending on how quickly they run out of food.
